Affordable Cloth Diapers: Sweet Pea Pocket Cloth Diaper

One of the next affordable cloth diapers available at CozyBums Diapers is the Sweet Pea Pocket cloth diaper. Similiar to the Sweet Pea Cloth Diaper Cover, the Pocket offers a functional cloth diaper available in Canada at a mere $17.95.

The quest for an affordable cloth diaper available in North America is not difficult. Many Canadian brands manufacture diapers overseas while abiding by compliance standards and protecting issues such as copyright. Sweet Pea Cloth Diapers is one such Canadian brand manufacturing overseas, and selling reasonably priced diapers at retailers, such as CozyBums. Check out other product reviews such as the Newborn all in one and One Size Cover.

Sweet Pea Pocket Cloth Diaper

Sweet Pea Pocket Cloth Diaper Design

Sweet Pea Pocket Cloth Diaper is a one-size pocket diaper, suggested to fit babies from 8-35lbs with three rise settings and cross over snaps. Unlike other cloth diapers, the waist wings feature a double snap giving a wide array of sizing options and a tighter cross over. This feature is similar to the one size cover, and a Sweet Pea feature characteristic.

Inside the diaper is a soft micro fleece stay dry pocket liner. This pocket liner has two opening, one in the front, and a larger back opening.   Sweet Pea Pocket Cloth Diaper comes with a handy little hanging tab located on the back of the pocket intended for laundry. Talk about nifty.

The pocket diaper comes with 2 microfibre inserts. One larger one with snap sizing, and a smaller size.

What I Like about this Pocket

  •  Fit & Sizing: I LOVE the sizing on the Sweet Pea pocket cloth diaper as it easily fits from 10 pounds to 35 plus pounds.

In hand, the Sweet Pea pocket cloth diaper looks large but snapped down and across, it was a nice trim fit on my newborn. This large shape then worked out even better on my chunkier growing toddler who is maxing out the sizing on some of his diapers.

    • Tiny enough for a newborn, but large enough for a toddler.

  • CrossOver Snaps: The crossover snaps on this diaper gave my little girl a perfect fit. Often we are faced too loose or too tight of a waist with crossover snaps, but with the staggered options, the snaps were just right.
    • For toddlers – I love crossover snaps are awesome for rolling up dirty diapers.
  • Leg Elastics: The soft, stretchy and gentle leg elastic leaves a lasting impression; they are just right.
  • Pocket Openings: the double opening is perfectly sized for my giant hands and easy to stuff with whatever absorbency you prefer. Inserts are then easy to remove or agitate out in my top loader.
  •  Price Point: The Sweet Pea Pocket is a totally reasonable, budget-friendly Canadian brand at $17.95 CDN and frequently on sale.

Room for Improvement

  • Microfibre Inserts: easy enough to replace with your favourite natural fibre insert, the microfibre inserts aren’t my cup of tea.
  • Front Fleece Opening: Sweet Pea Pocket cloth diaper features a back and a front opening. However, the front opening of the fleece inner tends to migrate up and over the PUL during wear, especially on motoring toddlers.
    • Pulling the fleece inner down before tightening the waist seemed to help reduce migration of the fleece out of the diaper, but it wasn’t perfect.
  • Double Snap Waists: these just annoy me and I seldom due up all 4 snaps on the waist.

Recommendation

The Sweet Pea Pocket cloth diaper is a total budget-friendly addition to your stash. Coupled with the fun solids and prints in the Sweet Pea line up, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this diaper for a cloth diaper stash. I’ll admit I find the double waist snaps on each wing a little overkill. I rarely do them all up and just do up 2. This doesn’t cause us any problems.

Buy it in a bundle to save even more. 6 – 24 packages of the Sweet Pea pocket cloth diaper are available at CozyBums for the best discount available.

This diaper is a great choice for newborns to toddlers, giving a wide array of sizing options that are bound to please.
