Diaper Dawg Review

The Diaper Dawg Collar is the gadget that I definitely should have ordered when I was cloth diapering – it just wasn’t really available in Canada. Even now, I ordered it direct from the states and absorbed the extra cost that would be international shipping and conversion.

To learn about the Diaper Dawg business and products direct from the owner, check out Show 54 of the Cloth Diaper Podcast.

I ordered a Diaper Dawg Collar from Diaper Dawgs earlier this summer at my own expense. Alisha provided additional items including the Laundry Finger Mitts and Shield for the review/giveaway. This post does contain affiliate links.

Why A Collar/Shield for Cloth Diapering

Maybe you’re considering a Spray Pal sprayer and shield, or maybe you’re considering a DIY method, or just using your bidet, or maybe you wanna try the Diaper Dawg Collar.  These all cloth diaper accessories to assist you with poop removal and sprayers. They help control the spray back and water mess that sometimes happens.

Yes, you can use a liner, disposable or fleece, to assist, but maybe, like me, you’re not good at remembering to add the liner with every diaper change – or your just cheap and don’t want to buy something regularly.

Yes, you could dunk and swish, but that’s not for everyone.

Some people love the sprayer, and they just need something to make the experience better.

My Sprayer Experience? I loved the sprayer but mine leaked. We’ve installed a bidet this week to trial out this Diaper Dawg and because we’ve been bidet curious. Spraying diapers always gave me the best clean of the diaper and allowed for an easier cleaner wash day. What I hated about the sprayer was the mess that ensued, and the bulk of my Spray Pal Shield. I never figured out how to use the sprayer without a shield, so I just stopped using the sprayer.

About the Diaper Dawg Collar

The Diaper Dawg Collar is a nifty silicone based cone. It’s kinda like a kitchen funnel and attaches to the bidet or diaper sprayer head. Instead of spraying into a shield or bin, you contain the spray within this cone on top of the diaper. There’s even a model that attaches to the shower head.

The collar is designed to fit most cloth diaper sprayers, but it may not fit with yours. A small piece of plastic was available in my package that did give a cost snug fit for my bidet sprayer which was smaller than the cover.

The collar fits in your hand, and collapses when not in use. It doesn’t have seams or grooves and can be easily cleaned. The latest model of the Diaper Dawg Collar is glittery and clear and allows you see what you’re doing when you’r doing it.

The Diaper Dawg Collar then creates a little space where the water cleans the diaper.

Don’t forget to stop spraying when you lift the cone off the diaper.

Diaper Dawg also sells a small plastic pad that you can use for extra support if you need it. This pad is multipurpose and allows you to not only get the support to clean, but can be used to help squish and squeeze the water without extra touching.

What About the Mitts?

I was so thrilled to get my hands on a set of the Diaper Dawg mitts. I might have laughed at these once before but I know that so many parents struggle with pocket cloth diapers. Some washing machines, some cloth diapers, sometimes the inserts don’t come out like they should.

If the inserts don’t come out, the agitation and wash experience is less than… If that happens you might get chronic stink and wash problems.

Thats where the mitts come in. The Diaper Dawg mitts help you remove dirty wet soiled inserts from a cloth diaper without having to touch anything. Yes, that awesome.

We know some people don’t love that sensory experience, and if that’s you, this product is for you.

My Experience & Review of the Product

I love everything about the idea of this product and ordered it to check it out.

I’ll be back with more information about performance once I get my bidet set up and trialed.

If you want to buy a Diaper Dawg, you can purchase it direct.
