I held out for thirteen months before buying a double stroller and I have major double stroller regret. There is so much I could have done with a double stroller and so much more joy to be had. We have a kickboard for our Bumbleride Indie, but after my last trip to Vancouver with the kids, it became evident that going spaces with them was too stressful.
If you’re a mom of 2 under 2, or 2 under 3, a double stroller will change your life.
I thought I could do it all, but I can’t. I’m just one mom, with one set of hands, and two very busy young children who weigh too much to handle and with my some ongoing body issues, babywearing my MASSIVE children means way too much excruciating pain at the end of the day.
My 14-month-old weighs 23 pounds, and my 32-month-old weights 38 pounds and I’m not very good pack mule.

Do I need a Double Stroller?
Anytime, anyone asked that question, I was that mom, who said, “nah, skip it. You can totally manage with the right combo of babywearing and stroller.” For a time, I even thought I could get away with a rider board for my stroller.
But then I had two busy AND big, toddlers and my life changed forever. When the big one hit 38 pounds, and the little one began to be interested and fascinated with the world, the need for a stroller clicked and I began to scroll the buy and sells for a deal.

You need a double stroller if you enjoy leaving the house and knowing where both children are. It’s nice to strap them in and just go without chasing a toddler or coaxing a child down the street.
You need a double stroller if you don’t like carrying 60 pounds of children out of the forest when they both insist they are tired on the last kilometre back. Children love to tire out with minutes to spare.
You need a double stroller if you need somewhere to carry your preschooler’s bike when he decides he just wants to walk but your toddler isn’t really the cold weather and just wants a nap.

You need a double stroller if you like shopping at stores without carts and don’t paying for things your children break. Some malls ahve those fancy double stroller carts, but there is peace of mind knowing you’re covered.
You need a double stroller if you enjoy leisurely adult-paced walks and quiet sleeping children. There’s nothing sweeter than being able to go for a walk and have quiet versus driving around the block.
If any of those suggestions tick of a box in your head, consider a double stroller. My only regret is not getting one sooner because there have been many moments in my past where I didn’t do something or I decided I couldn’t go because of my incapacity to do it all. You don’t have to do it all.

And yes, most of the time I push an empty stroller as my kids walk, but last week I carried 60 pounds out of the snow-covered forest and thanked the mighty gods on Facebook Marketplace that I finally made the splurge on a double.
What Kind of Double Stroller?
I’ll let you make that hard decision. I’m already an avid admirer of Bumbleride strollers, and when I found a Bumbleride Indie Twin second hand for a price I wanted to pay, I snatched it up. If I only knew, I would have bought one brand new 14 months ago.

It’s hard to say how much more use I will get from the double stroller now that I have two toddlers, but I think it’s paid for itself in the moments of quiet I’ve had, and the opportunities I’ve been able to take like walking to the store, tackling the mall, and just getting out by myself without the stress of trying to figure out how I’ll manage it all.
