By now, you’ve probably caught on we’ve had our baby girl! big sigh of relief there, baby girl is indeed still a girl. She’s been debuting our amazing collection of newborn cloth diapers both on Facebook & Instagram. We’ve even managed to squeeze in a few reviews to be published (but don’t worry, we’ve got many more to go. Drop a comment if theres something your waiting on, and I’ll push it up in the que).
Super Short Birth Story
I started this post by writing out my birth story, but all of a sudden that became a very long post, even when I thought I made it short and sweet! So here’s the short and sweet.
Slept thru light contractions Friday night. Saturday called the midwife to tell her to find childcare, I was gonna have a baby this weekend. Saturday @ Noon decided on a Sweep. Decided it was hospital time after dinner. Little Miss finally joined us at 11:25pm Saturday, February 25th. She weighed 7lbs 15oz. Went home the next morning at 8:30am.
One Month New
Little Miss is a full 2lbs over birth weight. Earlier this week she weighed in at 10lbs 2oz (comparatively, her brother weighed in at 12lbs 2oz at a month). She’s beginning to smile (I think). She’s awake and busy watching her brother. She sleeps 2-3 hours at a time. She loves to snuggle on your chest. She is content to be put down.
Hey – I need your help! What diaper would you match with this quilt she’s on? I just used what I had, and I’m not even sure what colour this size one AMP is… but I’d love a OS option for her. Nothing in my stash really works (so I feel). Drop a comment of what you think would work.
First Month Home
The first month went okay. everyone is still alive. #missionaccomplished.
I’ve had a ton of help this month. The first week Eric was off. The second week my mom and Grandma were here. The third week my sister was here. And the fourth week, this week, has been the first week of being on my own.
All of the help during the first couple of weeks has been amazing and I wouldn’t do it any other way. Adjusting, coping, and managing with a toddler is a challenge. Its a challenge to recover from birth without other children, let alone with them.
really just go follow us on Instagram for all the fun shenanigans.
Angel Baby Anna
Seriously, this child is an Angel baby. Little Miss Anna is absolutely amazing. If all babies were like her, I’d have more babies. But I know, not all babies are this amazing.
She’s so incredibly easy. I won’t rub it in anymore. She’s not sleeping thru the night, but she’s a pretty darn good sleeper and so easy going.
2 Under 2
The adjustment for Little Man to big brother has been a struggle. He really didn’t do well the first couple of weeks. The tantrums and meltdowns were catastrophic.
Things are finally beginning to turn around.
- He’s getting better at asking what he wants and showing us (because we are behind on our language, he doesn’t have those words to tell us what he needs. Slowly getting more sounds, more independent, and more gestures. This is awesome. I think we are on the right track.).
- He’s getting better at helping and being independent (like getting his coats and shoes on, and finding his cup).
- He’s getting better at being less jealous when I nurse Anna.
- He’s getting better at sleeping, but not napping (he’s in his own room and own bed now. He sleeps a good portion by himself before waking up to start his day at 5:30am).
- Things are improving.
I finally took both kids out on my own for the first time yesterday. It was the most daunting and slightly overwhelming task. I left way early and arrived 10 minutes early! #winning. I was equally as successful this morning hitting up our very first Hike it Baby hike.
That’s all I got for now. I’m just feeling really impressed I got this post finished up before bed on her first month birthday. Now to plan a playdate, because I feel like we should eat some cake to celebrate her birth <3
