What to Expect for Black Friday 2021 – Cloth Diaper

Black Friday is coming… and for many cloth diaper brands and retailers it’s already started.

This year, we saw brands retailers drop cloth diaper Black Friday sales and promotions even earlier than ever. Some brands even hosted pre-Black Friday sales in October, or they just straight up said – hey I’m not Black Friday, but how about a sale today.

There’s no rules about sales.

And technically, I don’t think we can make rules, something about anti-trust rules.

But have no fear, the best Black Friday sales are yet to come.

You’re not missing out, and there are still many amazing brands & retailers launching sales on Black Friday. Sometimes, we even see the best of the best come out for 24 hours only.

However, if you have your eye on something you’ll probably want to scoop it up now, instead of waiting. This is the time of year when things sell out.

What can we expect this Black Friday for Cloth Diaper Sales?

You can expect to discover your favourite products 10-40% off.

I know, that’s vague, but that’s kind of where we are at.

Every cloth diaper business has a different sales model.

Some brands are no-sale companies, meaning they never ever offer a sale. This can be really advantageous business move because it teaches your customer to pay full price and not wait around for a sale. I have a few friends in real life who build their business on this model. It’s always interesting having a cup of tea of them, and they talk about how customers start waiting for sales if you start offering them. And I see that in my real life, there’s a few shops at the mall that I only buy from on sale because I know they always offer 40% off weekends… so why would I pay full price for anything?

Some brands are limited sales only. GroVia used to be like this, they’d have like 2 maybe three sales a year. So if you wanted 20% off these elusive diapers, you better do it on Earth Day & Black Friday. I feel like they’ve had a few more sales this year?

Some brands offer deep discounts of 40% off and some brands only give 5-15% off. For example, Geffen Baby is almost always 10% off during sale weekends. Meanwhile other brands go all in with 40% off. It’s not because one brand is holding out, it’s because they have different profit margins and business structures.

Over the past few years, I’ve learnt that price points on products really vary. You do have some brands who can only offer 10% and some brands who can offer more. This is reflective of how we value our worth, our products, and how we offer sales.

My tips for finding the best Black Friday sales is to do a little research.

In 2021, it’s pretty easy to take a look at a brands social media presence and find out what kind of sales they have offered in the past, and what you might expect as a good sale for Black Friday.

If you’re thinking of adding KinderCloth or Charlie Banana to your stash this year, and wondering what would be a good Black Friday sale, go take a look through their social media and find out what sale promotions they’ve offered in the past, and write that down.

Now when, they announce their Black Friday sale, you’ll know if it’s the same, better, or worse than what they normally do and if today is a good time to buy.

I also like to do this when I’m buying used diapers, because it’s good to know if a brand normally offers a bogo sale, that I don’t want to pay bogo prices on used diapers.

My other big Black Friday tip is to subscribe to newsletters of your favourite brands and retailers. Newsletter communication is generally the best way to get in the know because you’re not relying on social media algorithms to hopefully show your content to someone.

If you don’t have a brand in mind, but you just want to browse all the potential sales, then you’ll want to be on my list. My email newsletter will let you know when the directory is up to date and live. I’ll have the scoop on at least five brands best deals, and be able to point you in the direction of some of my favourite sales.

I’m excited this year to be supported by cloth diaper businesses who love what I do, and I love what they do. Check out this year’s sponsors for the Cloth Diaper Podcast Black Friday Directory for more information on their products, brands and business story:  The Blythe Life, Bungies Diapers, Little Fanny Pants, Green Mountain Diapers, and Earth & Pebble.

And because your girl gets overwhelmed, I limit the sponsored posts to 5, and I only share sponsored ads to my stories. I share and create content for brands for free all year round, but on Black Friday, I’m drawing the line and creating a boundary. If you’d like to purchase a last minute advertisement on an Instagram story, now is the chance to do so. You can purchase them here through Convert Kit.
