In February, I was sent a PR box from Lillypost to try out their book subscription and I kinda loved it. You can read my first blog post about it here.
This post has an affiliate link in it but it is not sponsored or paid for. I write this of my own accord this evening.
I decided I loved it enough to start my own subscription and have been receiving a monthly book box from Lillypost every since. I think we are on our fourth box now and I’ve signed up for a 6 month subscription.
During this time, I also tried a box from Kiwi Crate. Kiwi Crate is widely popular in some of my friend circles – but truthfully, I was a little disappointed. I have ordered another box to try this summer, but I think I might cancel my subscription for Kiwi Crate. More on that later.
4 Things I Love About My Monthly Book Box
- I love mail.
- I love new books – I get so bored in the mundane of motherhood, that having a bigger collection of books to read my kids has really helped.
- I like that books last – a craft box is an afternoon of fun, but books get read every day all month before bed.
- Lillypost challenges you in every box to repurpose your box and decorate it, share it, and post it on social media. In May/June, we were challenged to do a garden.
1 Thing I don’t Love About My Monthly Book Box
- Lack of diverse authors – during this important global conversation about Black Voices, Indigenous Voices, and the white narrative we tell ourselves, my box has been mostly white authors writing stories about animals. We could use a little diversity in these boxes, and I reached out to Lillypost, and they said they are working to address the issue. I look forward to seeing if new books arrives from a variety of backgrounds and stories.
A Few of the Lillypost Boxes we’ve Recieved

Follow that Bear is a favourite from this months box. I like the Monkey book because it’s short and easy to read when I’m tried.

We just got this box so I haven’t read it yet.

My kids love Ninja book and the Dark Dark Night. We rarely read the Wizard of Oz.
