Bambino Mio Review of the Mioduo Cover

Last year, I had Guy from Bambino Mio on the podcast. He shared the story of Bambino Mio, and you can listen to it on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or anywhere you love to listen to Podcasts.

Bambino Mio reached out to me to see if I’d like to check out their products this year. They did send me this product as a gift. I did an initial unboxing on YouTube. I am reviewing it because I want to and I am not compensated for my review. I have included affiliate links, and adverts in this post. For a complete list of affiliate shops.

I have previously reviewed the Bambino Miosolo AIO diaper on Youtube. It’s not a product I loved because I don’t love synthetic absorbency, but for many families’ microfiber is a great choice. All of the diapers at Bambino Mio feature hook and loop fasteners. This is a great addition for many families looking for easy-use fastening for daycare, babysitters, grandparents, or other sort of hand limitations.

There are another brand who make hook and loop covers. You might also consider: GroVia Shells, Happy Flute, or Thirsties.

About the Bambino Mio MioDuo Cover

The Bambino Mio MioDuo is a water-resistant cover (polyurethane laminated polyester) is a Made in China, Designed in the UK. It is sized cover available in size 1 (less than 6 months) and size 2 (more than 6 months).  They do not have rise snaps. It does have hook & loop, and the front panel is slightly wider in the mid-section. I view this as giving you the option to attach the waist a little lower or higher as needed.

It also has laundry tabs!! Yay! Laundry tabs is an area where you can fold the hook & loop back for laundry washing. Loose hook and loop is known to mingle with other textiles and can damage other diapers in your wash, or lend to muddled diapers.

The diaper features elastics at the front and the back, and a double elastic along the leg .It’s a single layer of PUL, with an extra panel in the front (this lends to easy wash and quick dry). This is a relatively easy to wipe surface if that’s something you like to do.

Because it’ is JUST A COVER you will need to purchase additional absorbency to use with this diaper. You can use this with prefolds (see information about the Bambino Mio Prefolds here), or other flat diapers. You might even be able to use it with Fitted Diapers, but most other reviews contest this and discourage it’s use mostly because of its narrow wings in the front.

This diaper cover retails for $23 in Canada. This is comparatively on the mid-high range for similar products.

My Recommendation

The size 1 is massive, and the size 2 is okay in size. I’ve compared the diaper to the Size 1 Apple Cheeks, or the Size 1 Tuck-Wrap-Go Cover from Nuggles, and it’s significantly longer in the length of the diaper. This is a much larger shape and cut than I would expect out  of size 1 diapers.

That grey is a size 1 Nuggles Cover.

With Apple Cheeks Size 1

I would not recommend this diaper for smaller babies, and have heard that the size 1 fits well around 12-18 pounds in weight. Therefore, it would not be a great choice for newborn babies. There are other diapers, such as the GroVia Hook & Loop Shell with rise snaps that adjust smaller for a snugger fit on an 8-10lb baby. I would recommend that Bambino Mio consider adding rise snaps to adjust the length of the diaper for smaller babes.

This is the size 2 compared to the Nuggles Cover. The Nuggles Cover is a much larger shell. It is more comparable to most one size diapers as shown in image below.

This cover is okay. It’s well constructed and would work for most full-size babies and toddlers. It is a basic product that fills the void of hook & loop covers within the cloth diaper space.

Prince George, BC | My Rhododendron Died

I’m from BC’s southwest coast, rhododendrons grow everywhere. They are the hedge plant of everything, but in Prince George, BC you will be hard pressed to find a rhododendron because they are just not zone 3 plants.  When we purchased our current home we were surprised to discover a rhododendron – but there was much […]
