Best Bottom BIGGER {Comparison and Review}

Best Bottom Bigger cloth diaper is exactly what this family of chunky fast growing babies needed. Little Man is a fair sized toddler. Tipping the scale at 30 pounds plus, he is beginning to open up in most of his cloth diaper stash. I’m giving the side eye to many of our cloth diapers as I squeeze him into the last couple sets of hip snaps. The regular sized Best Bottom was no exception. It had found its way into Little Miss’s stash, and seldom got used on my chunky of chunk toddler.

Best Bottom

What’s Bigger with Best Bottom?

The Best Bottom Bigger is a BIGGER fitting diaper than the regular current product. It’s estimated to fit 10-45 pounds PLUS (unlike the previous 8-35 pounds) with an extra 1″ in the rise and an extra 1.5″ in the waist.

It still features a near identical similarities to the regular sized cover. Best Bottom Bigger still features 3 rows of rise snaps giving 4 a total of four rise settings.  Still features cross over waist snaps and the same number of waist snaps. Best Bottom Bigger also continues to seamless work with the Best Bottom Inserts providing snaps for snapping in any sized insert, and providing an easy wipeable cover.

Best Bottom Bigger Comparison

Measured it looks like a marginal difference, but on its a totally different story.

Best Bottom BIGGERBigger in Hand

I’ll admit to squeals of excitement when Simply Dad tossed up the weekly delivery of diapers (#honesttruth #clothdiaperaddict) and I noticed my “matching” Best Bottom cloth diapers in the bag! I quickly tore apart the packaging, found a ruler and started taking photos.
Laid on top, the diapers felt and looked marginally bigger than the regular OS Best Bottom diaper. However, the magic of the size difference is in the stretch of the elastic. This is hard to photograph, so you will have to trust in the difference. But the extra 1.5″ in the waist is just noticeable, but more defined when the diapers are stretched. This means the diaper is bigger all around giving a better, perhaps truer, bigger fit. Longer leg and waist elastics compliment the overall bigger size of this diaper.

Best Bottom Bigger In Real Life

Cloth Diaper covers like the Best Bottom Bigger are simple to use. A cover relies on two things to be successful: 1) good fit and 2) sufficient absorbency. The absorbency part is up to you, but we can talk about how this new BIGGER version of the Best Bottom diaper fits. Lucky for me, I have TWO babies in TWO different sizes for you to view.

For reference, both babies have in a Funky Fluff deLux hemp-bamboo insert in their Best Bottom diapers. I only own ONE Best Bottom inserts, so these work as another option.

Newborn & Infants

The Best Bottom Bigger has a suggested starting weight of 10 pounds. My current chunk is 12.5 pounds. I was able to do a cross over snap on the smallest rise setting. There is still one snap tighter, and would easily fit chunkier fitting newborns right out of the gate.

Best Bottom BIGGER

This might be a great cloth diaper for you if you grow chunky babies. It does have a higher rise in the waist over the regular Best Bottom cover, meaning you will likely need to wait to loose your umbilical stump, but I can easily see this working on average sized 8-9 pound newborn (especially with a folded on prefold or flat diaper which adds additional all over bulky). Probably a little bulky and clumsy fit, but a worthwhile option for birth to potty training.

Bigger Babies & Toddlers

The Best Bottom Bigger has a suggested upper limit of 45 pounds; with estimates that it could easily push that weighted suggested depending on the toddler/preschoolers shape, frame, and rise needed.

Best Bottom Bigger Toddler

Little Man fit this diaper very easily. With a trim insert in, he was on the second lowest rise setting with a relatively great overall fit. I could likely go up a rise snaps that its not nearly as low rise on him. Considering many of our other diapers require him to be in a full rise setting with minimal waist snaps remaining, I am very pleased with the fit on him! Very pleased.

On the regular sized Best Bottom he is a full rise with three snaps showing. He’s a little between rise settings with the current single layered insert. However, double stuffed, the awkward sag disappears and gives a cleaner and crisper appearance. I wasn’t able to go down a rise setting.

My Conclusion

I’ll only be buying the Best Bottom Bigger cloth diaper for my babies from now on. Knowing that Little Man is a beast of a toddler, and that my Little Miss is following in his footprints, this is the ideal choice for my family.

How will you know if Bigger is better for you? You might not know because kids are funny that way. This is a great product for parents like me with bigger toddlers. However, even if you make smaller sized children, or have a small baby at home, like Little Miss, the Bigger is still an amazing one-size cloth diaper option for cloth diapering from birth to potty training.

Is your toddler maxing out his cloth diapers? At what size were they ready for potty training?

Thank you for your review! Bestbottoms are one of my fave diapers. Right now I have been going between sweetpea AIO and best bottoms with staydry bamboo inserts. My little love is almost 5 months and 15lbs. He’s not a big baby he is a chunk but not really big for his age. I have been thinking the bigger best bottoms might never be necessary for him I already have just over a dozen reg bestbottoms. I am torn between buying more sweet pea AIO (I only have 4 in my stash right now) or bigger best bottoms. Any thoughts?

I haven’t tried the Sweet Pea AIO yet, so I can’t speak to that, but I think the Bigger is option for longitivtiy if your babies are 75th percentile or more.

I’m also a huge advocate for stash diversity. There are so many amazing diapers on the market… and a new Best Bottom AIO coming soon!

I haven’t tried a Best Bottoms because my kiddos are always larger than average, so this new size is a breath of fresh air and thanks to your review, I think I need to get one now ?

My son was such a big boy he outgrew his OS BestBottom covers, so I’m so happy to see they’ve released a bigger version!

I started cloth diaper with Best Bottom. I have yet to try the bigger size. I’m glad to see more companies making bigger sizes.

Thank you for this review! My 21 month old is in 4T clothes and has basically outgrown her entire stash of cloth. I’m searching for a new option since we could have a year or more left in diapers!
