A new cloth diaper is joining the Elemental Joy line up from Cotton Babies, the Elemental Joy All In One Diaper. Released in the Spring of 2021 (I only discovered it because a retailer I follow stocked it), Cotton Babies introduced a low-cost all in one diaper to their budget line up, Elemental Joy.
An All In One Diaper is a one step diaper without any additional inserts or prep. This cloth diaper style is most reminiscent of a disposable diaper. The benefit is the simplicity, but the downside is the difficulty to wash and lack of customization. About Elemental Joy
Elemental Joy cloth diapers began as a low-cost initiative to bring diapers to Walmart at an affordable and accessible price point in 2018. This started with the original Elemental Joy pocket design, that later transitioned into the bucket system that was available at Walmart. Elemental Joy is a budget-friendly alternative to disposable diapers that brings you your favourite cotton babie design features at a lower cost.
About the Elemental Joy AIO
Coming in at $17.95 USD, or $18-19.99 CAD, this diaper is almost half the cost of other all in one diapers, but comparable to other budget brands like the La Petite Ourse AIO ($17.99 at Lagoon Baby), but the Nicki’s AIO remains one of the most competitively priced at $12-15.99 USD. Comparatively, the Elemental 3.0 is $24.99 (or $37.99 CAD)
Why is it so low cost? This diaper is Made in China. Moving manufacturing overseas supports a lower priced product. It is also only available in solids.
This design is similar to other Elemental Joy products; a larger cut compared to the bumGenius line up, no stretchy tabs, and similar textiles. It is one size with a 3×3 rise setting, and a double waist snap.
Designed with a built-in cotton core and synthetic suede lining, this is a simple poop clean up system without the mess of inserts and snap ins.
My Review of the Elemental Joy AIO
I have had the pleasure of bringing you so many incredible low-cost cloth diaper brands this year with an array of features and functionality that it’s hard to love this diaper. Why this sewn in cotton diaper, when you could have double bamboo inserts on a La Petite Ourse diaper? LPO’s transparency in manufacturing and business practices also align to create a product that is well constructed and respected.
This diaper is simple.
But it’s 2021 and so many brands are giving us high absorbency, cute designs, and better quality of products than Elemental Joy at the same price point.
It’s a single elastic, no belly panel design. Simple.
Will it work. Yes. Maybe. It’s only 6 ounces of absorbency, making it a super light wetter diaper comparable to lighthouse kids (no booster).
The cotton pad sewn in is low enough that it wont cause problems like in this ELF AIO. This reminds me of the design of the Melissa Makes AIO. Because it is a sewn in cotton pad, it does take a little longer to dry. I pulled it out of the dryer and it was still damp. I let it hang to dry for the remainder of the night.
How is it different than the Elemental 3.0?
The Elemental 3.0 is a cotton all in one diaper. It’s one of my favourites all in one diaper and high on my recommendation list. That specific diaper brings you layers of built-in cotton absorbency that creates a full body absorbency. The Elemental 3.0 features stretchy tabs and a front belly strip.
My photos with the elemental 3.0 all came out blurry, and I’ve chosen to just slide by this section.
How is the Elemental Joy AIO different than the Elemental Joy Pocket?
Elemental Joy Pocket is a two step system – you have an insert you place inside the pocket (or outside).
Elemental Joy All In One is a one step system – you just wash and reuse. Wash and reuse. There’s no parts that need to be added or steps to be done. It’s a simple diaper.
It’s a very similar cut and shape with near identical features.
