Flip Diaper Review – A Simple Cloth Diaper Cover

There are a lot of cloth diaper covers on the market, and it can be hard to choose which one to buy. Where do you even start with that question? My advice, always, is to buy the cutest cloth diaper that just captures your heart. And if that happens to be a print from the Cotton Baby brand Flip, then this is what you need to know about this amazingly simple cloth diaper.

Simple, Easy to use cloth diaper covers that work is answered by Flip.

Why Choose Flip Diapers?

You should choose a Flip Diaper cover because it’s simple, straightforward, and easy to use. That’s the gist.

  1. Just Simple – There’s not much to the Flip cover, and that’s perfectly fine because it makes this cloth diaper cover easy to use. It’s simple, add an insert, wrap around the baby, and go. It’s a one size cloth diaper that adjusts to babies 8-35 pounds.
    • I believe you can see how it fit my newborn in my newborn post here.
  2. Functional – two key features stick out to me with the Flip Diaper Cover.
    1. The first being the front and back gussets which allow you tuck in an insert and keeps a bit of a barrier from liquids or poop coming out the diaper in the wrong places.
The insides of a Flip Diaper Cover - Wipeable and with inside flaps
    2. The second is the stretchy tabs which help give a snug fit where you need it most. While a diaper should have wiggle room in it, the stretchy tab just makes adjusting the cloth diaper easier and oh so smooth.

  3. Room for Everything – you’ll notice the Flip diaper cover is extra wide compared to other cloth diaper covers. Don’t this deter you because its just extra width to fit all the absorbency you need. Always make sure the elastics are in the leg creases and you’ll never have a problem, instead, the width will allow you to use the thickest most absorbent inserts you want to use.
The trick to a good fitting cloth diaper cover every time is to fold in the elastics to lay on the creases
  4. Made in America – I also love that it’s made in America.
  5. Price Point – starting at $14.95 USD, a stash of 6 will cost only $90 USD. In Canadian, that’s 18.95 per diaper for $114.  Pair it with prefolds and you can cloth diaper for under $200, or reuse something like receiving blankets or a t-shirt cloth diaper, and you’re under $100 with new, American made, quality cloth diapers. Who said you needed to use cheapies to stay on budget? #notme.

Couple things that suck about the Flip Diaper?

Is anything really perfect? No.

The Flip Diaper is not ideal if you are folding on cloth diapers like flats or prefold diapers. It’s a little narrow along the hips.

It can be done, but I would rather use another cloth diaper like a Blueberry Capri/Coverall or a Thirsties Duo Wrap or a Nuggles Wrap.

Also the stretchy tabs do get some wear over time.

I’ve heard Flip elastics can suck because it is a bumGenius product, but I haven’t had any problems on my newer diapers.

What do I use with it?

Anything but microfibre because microfibre can’t go against the skin as it causes rashes and irritation. Flip makes a vareity of products including inserts, half flats and disposable inserts. You can also use a variety of different products.

Where can you buy it?

If this Flip diaper review makes you want to run out and buy one, you can find at these affiliate cloth diaper retailers, or your local shop.
