Earlier this year I decided that my cloth diaper stash needed a modern update. So many of the brands that I was using were outdated, and just not up to trend. In sourcing the trendiest diapers of the year, I visited Jemma & Way, an online cloth diaper boutique that you gotta check out.
I picked up the EcoNaps diaper we reviewed last week, and a Fluffy Ducks pocket diaper. Today we are going to take a look at the Fluffy Ducks Cloth Nappy and what it has to offer because brands rarely provide enough information on their websites.

— hey, I bought this diaper, and that’s about it
About Fluffy Ducks
Fluffy Ducks is a New Zealand cloth nappy brand. Founded by Sheree, this is a small business operation striving to find a diaper style that works for their family. I think this is how most cloth nappy brands start out – and you can learn more about the brand on their website.
You can purchase Fluffy Ducks in the United States at Jemma & Way.
The Fluffy Ducks Nappy
This is a versatile pocket-style all in two cloth diaper.
That means this diaper features a pocket opening, has snap-in inserts, and can be used however you want it to be used. Verstaility is key to cloth diapering, but at one point many brands sold microfibre inserts with their diapers, so we couldn’t’ say you could use it anyway. But now, more and more brands are opting for natural fibre blends which allows us to use diapers like covers or pockets. The snap in inserts gives the diaper that all in one functionality that many parents love.

Fluffy Duck Cloth Diaper Features

Fluffy Ducks Features in Review
Last week when I thought the EcoNaps diaper was small… this diaper is even smaller and their website does say 3kg instead of 3.5kg. However, they do suggest it can fit to up to 17kg, which is a fair size toddler. When a smaller diaper fits big kids, as imaged on their website, it will be a low rise that is on the last snaps. being on the last snaps is okay, thats what the last snaps are there for.
An interesting feature is the single double waist snap. This triangle arrangement is wider than other variations like the one on the Charlie Banana diaper or the Nerdy Mommas Pocket diaper, or on cheapies. It also features two hip snaps that are parallel to each other. That will really keep the diaper from sagging, but you might need to skip the bottom snap if it pinches – remember we don’t let diapers hurt our babies.

The 6 layer inserts got me like, no thanks. So many of us want thick dense inserts for mega absorbency, but I do not like seeing this because they can be challenging to clean, take forever to dry, and just not worth the bulk. Sure, with this system you can decide if you need one or two inserts, but you still have a 6 layer insert to clean.
The inserts are contoured to fit into the narrow crotch of the diaper, and snap together and into the diaper. They feature only one snap at the top of the insert… I’m going to toss this in the wash over the weeks to come, and we’ll see how they wash up and if they bacon or not.
This is a small & narrow diaper – just like the Econaps, this diaper features a small crotch which I can’t get my hand into! That’s fine if you want a small crotch and many families go out of their way to find this style of diaper, but it also limits the potential girth and how many inserts you can stuff into the diaper. I personally prefer a little more space just because I want to easily stuff a cloth diaper, and I can’t fit my massive man hands into this diaper.

Fluffy Ducks Cloth Diaper Recommendation
Because I don’t have a baby to try this diaper on… I usually say you should try the Fluffy Ducks Modern Cloth diaper if you’re looking for a petite fitting cloth diaper with natural fibres. If you really like the fit of Charlie Banana, Lil Helper, Wink Diapers, or Rumparooz, this might be a good choice for you to try.
Now, if you want to check out some reviews from parents who have tried it…. cloth diaper blogging is not as cool as it used to be, but here are some resources to check out
