Luludew Convertible Cover Diaper Review

In 2021, I worked with Luludew on a completely different project, but it gave the opportunity to FINALLY check out the Luludew diaper for the first time, and I love this stay-put functionality of a diaper cover that turns into pocket.

Yes, the Luluedew diaper system is a convertible cloth diaper that goes from a pocket to a cover, or from a cover to a pocket diaper. Blending the functionality of a pocket diaper and a cloth diaper cover into one multi-use system the Luluedew system takes the all in two diaper to the NEXT LEVEL.

About Luludew

Luludew is a diaper service serving the Los Angeles area, and owned by the most wonderful woman – Sandy. How can I describe Sandy? Sandy has the most beautiful abundance mindset that just inspires and empowers you to achieve all the things. She is a human I can’t wait to meet.

With it’s roots as a diaper service, Luludew also sells it’s diapers to people around the world who want to wash their own diapers. Now, if you live in the Los Angeles area that Luludew serves, you can sign up for the diaper service and get a stash of Luludew diapers they clean for you.

I believe that Diaper services are the future – but that’s a blog post for another day.

The Luludew Convertible Cover

The Luludew Convertible Cover is a classic one size cloth diaper cover. It’s nothing special from the outside and reminds very much of the Lil Helper All In Two.  However, we can’t judge a book from its cover, and opening the Convertible Cover, we begin to really see the incredible functionality of the Luludew diaper. Here’s a few of the great features this diaper has:

  • Double leg gussets for extra girth to hold in the absorbency and yuck.
  • Front and back PUL panels on the inside of the diaper to hold the insert or prefold in place
  • Internal snaps to secure snap in inserts (if desired)
  • Optional: Snap In Fleece Liner that secures to the front and back of the diaper to create a faux pocket.

The Luludew Convertible Cloth Diaper is designed to work with your choice of inserts: snap-in inserts, prefold diapers, fitted diapers, or any other absorbent material.

How the Stay Put Fleece Liners Work

I think the stay-dry liners should be a called stay-put fleece liners, but alas I’m not on the naming team. It’s a removable fleece liner that has four snaps that fasten to the back and front.  This means your liner is not going anywhere.

Because let’s get real, sometimes you put a liner into the diaper and then the liner and baby moves and you end up with a hot mess. Now that could still happen, liners help reduce mess not prevent it – but with four secure snaps, this stay-put liner is gonna be there when you get back to change baby in a few hours.  Might I still recommend checking out a diaper sprayer system like Diaper Dawgs.

The best part? This is a reusable diapering system. You can continue to reuse the cover until soiled. Simply swap out the fleece liner for a new one, along with a new insert or prefold, with every diaper change.

You might want to do this because you’re looking for a lower-cost diapering system, smaller laundry load, or you just love your diaper cover. When families use a 1 cover to 3 insert system, they often can wash smaller loads and can save a little money on building their diaper stash.

What absorbency can I use with the Luludew Convertible Cover.

If you want to use the stay-put stay dry liners, the Luludew Convertible Cover can be used with prefolds, inserts, or flats. I received a set of prefolds and inserts to check out. Here’s the details on those

Luludew Inserts

The Luludew Insert is a contoured insert made of bamboo terry. The brief run down:

  • Available in two sizes, small and large.
  • Bamboo Terry Blend
  • Snaps at front and back
  • Works with the Luludew All In One System

Sizing is relevant to absorbency and the size of your baby. Large inserts may not be the best choice for smaller children because of the bulk. It is often recommended to change diapers more frequently, or consider adding smaller boosters to reduce the length of the diaper for smaller frames.

Luludew Prefolds

As a diaper service, prefolds are at the heart of the Luludew brand with four size options available in a traditional 4x8x4 build of Indian cotton gauze. These prefolds are a favourite amongst diaper service providers and customers.

  • 4 sizes: newborn, infant, regular & toddler
  • Can be padfolded or fold onto baby
  • 8 layers in the center fold
  • Long-lasting, multi-use
  • Diaper Service Quality Workhorse diapers

Luludew Fitted diapers

I also received a set of the Luludew fitted diapers and will do a separate review in the coming weeks, but these diapers are mighty absorbent and simple to use.  They are available in three different sizes.

Different than the Esembly Baby Fitted diaper, but also the same system and idea that would be a simple to use diapering solution for any family.

My Luludew Convertible Cover Review

I am smitten with this product just because of the innovation of the stay-put liner and wondering people don’t talk about Luludew more.

This is a fantastic quality product that has been built by a diaper service for a diaper service and thus has that durability factor built in. I love the customization of the Luludew system that really lets you build a diaper system that works for you, and can adapt for you.

We talk about building cloth diaper stashes – but when your children grow and change your stash really needs to adapt. Being able to remove the fleece liners when needed, snap in the inserts for care givers, or pair with a fitted diaper for heavy wetter situations really gives the versatility needed for any cloth diaper collection.

I haven’t tried this diaper on my own child – so I can’t say anything to the day to day functionality and would encourage you to check out these other reviews.

Cloth Diaper Recommendation

The Luludew Convertible Cover is a great diaper choice for beginners and established diaper users. This is a great way to build your stash and feel empowered to adapt as needed. It’s simple design provides you all the features you need to be successful.  You can purchase Luludew direct or through Amazon, or other retailers.

If you already like Lil Helpers Diapers, Wink Diapers, or Esembly Baby, I think you would have a great experience with the Luludew Convertible Cloth Diaper Cover.

In the world of gardening, there are those who love every moment spent with their plants, and then there are those who do it out of necessity. This year, my goal was simple: grow enough green beans to keep our pantry stocked for the winter. In the past, I’d resorted to buying and canning 20-40 […]
