This past week we spent in the Lower Mainland, visiting family and canning pickles. I always love escaping Northern BC because there’s so much more to do in the Vancouver area. We don’t have farms, or play centres, or other fun things in the North. We just have outdoor playgrounds.
We decided to go to Mann Farms in Abbotsford, BC. I’ve been to the Taves Family Farms in the past, and wanted to try a new farm, new space and see what it was all about.
Mann Farms was not worth it.
It cost the four of us (my mom, myself, and two kids) plus goat feed, almost $70! I should have just gone to the zoo… I didn’t go to the Zoo because $100 terrified me, but at least at the Zoo the animals look happy, and the chicken’s don’t look malnourished and diseased.
Now – we did go in the middle of the day, during a heat wave. Which was not the best idea because there is very little shade, and a few tents placed around the property that you need to share with other guests. The play equipment was thus very hot, and my kids were exhausted. There was no easy refillable water sources, and we definitely had to get more cold drinks as soon as we left.
My six year old had a blast, he’ just is full of energy and went and went and went on the bike track and the biplane. My daughter is more into animals and just wanted to spend time with them, but they didn’t have shade or much water, and kinda made me uncomfortable.
We got a sliver on a playground slide, and found ourselves covered in dust and dirt. For three hours of play, it wasn’t worth it. There’s not even farms to wander or explore. That’s an additional cost. Maybe if we went during an actual event like sunflower days would it be worth it, but if you’re thinking of taking your kids, maybe just go to the pool instead?
Mann Family Farms is a hard pass for me, and I wont be returning or recommending the farm.
