I love Trade Shows. My dream job would be working a Trade Show. However, I live in Prince George, and the closest thing this YXS blogger gets to a Trade Show is a small WAHM (work at home mom) based fair. At this trade show was Prince George Diaper Service showcasing their cloth diapering and laundry service. On their table was an assortment of products including a beautiful rainbow of Mother ease Airflow Covers. I’ve only heard of Mother ease in passing, but I hadn’t investigated further. As I do, I scooped them out on Instagram and clicked “follow.” End of Story.
Not quite.
Earlier this Summer, Mother ease caught my eye by releasing a line up of Fashionables. As a renowned cloth diaper addict with a soft spot for prints and patterns, the FAshionables line drew me in, and now I was curious. I connected up with Mother ease, and we made this review happen. Today I’m reviewing the One Size Wizard Duo Cloth Diaper & One Size Wizard Duo Absorbent Insert. To find out about the sized options check out Modern Bottom Babies.

The Story of Motherease
Mother ease is a CANADIAN based cloth diaper brand manufacturing diapers out of Ontario. They have long been known for their quality and absorbent diapers. Ask around, and many people remember Mother ease cloth diapers fondly as being an absorbent cloth diaper that stands the test of time. However, I also discovered comments that they were fluffy and boring compared to whats on the market today.
Lucky for you the Mother ease cloth diaper isn’t frozen in time. The release of Mother ease Wizard one-step cloth diapers in the late 2000’s and now the Fashionables line up. These are a must try Canadian cloth diaper, and I’m going to tell you why (as I always do).

Motherease Wizard Duo Adjustable Cloth Diaper Design
The Mother ease Wizard Duo 2.0 cloth diapers is referred to as a one step cloth diaper by Mother ease in that the diaper goes on in one simple step. It can also be considered an All-in-Two (AI2) or a hybrid cloth diaper. The Wizard Duo offers cloth diaper users the option to snap in inserts. From here you can use it as an All-in-one set up, or change out inserts and use it as a cover. While Motherease would prefer you used their fantastic snap in inserts with the diaper, you could really use anything that fits. There are a couple of different options for sizing, but I have the one-size version.

The cover is a classic one size adjustable cloth diaper shape. The Wizard Duo adjustable cover features three rise settings with two snaps across. Double waist snaps allow this diaper to fit from 10-35lbs.
In hand, the PUL is soft and thin, but strong and durable. The edges are lined with a fold over mesh-like material unlike any I’ve seen before. Inside the diaper, life is even simpler with not much to point out. Snaps for the inserts can be found tucked up into the back under the wings, and easily located at the front of the diaper.
Mother ease Wizard Duo Insert – Nighttime
There are four options of Wizard Duo Inserts available from Mother ease, and I have the night time insert. Unlike other cloth diaper inserts, the Motherease insert spans the full size of the diaper. Other inserts are simple rectangles or hourglass shapes. You can find out more about sizing on Mother ease.
There are six snaps located on the Duo Insert. Four snaps in the back for the waist wings of the Mother ease one size adjustable Wizard Duo Cover (2 per wing) and a pair of snaps at the front of the insert for one of two rise settings. The insert consists of a high-quality cotton. Mother ease tells me this absorbs 9x more than traditional cotton materials. It is lined with a stay dry material (think an athletic wicking jersey).

What I Love about Mother ease One Size Adjustable Cover & Insert
I admit having a little too much excitement when I opened my package and discovered how incredible of an insert the Mother ease night time insert was. Naturally, I ran to Instagram stories and had to show y’all. I love how it’s like a fitted cloth diaper, but it’s a hybrid all-in-two cloth diaper. It’s like everything rolled into one. But that initial excitement aside, let us talk about the specific loves I have for the Motherease one size Wizard Adjustable Duo.
- Mother ease One Size Cloth Diaper: This diaper isn’t going to fit your tiny newborns, but it will fit 10-pound infants to toddlerhood. The diaper fits both children great and gives an overall trim fit. I’m impressed with the fit on my toddler and my infant. For me, one size cloth diapers are the way to go. Cloth diapering two babies means I want to be able to use the cloth diaper on both kids. For this reason, I feel like I wouldn’t have been as happy with a sized cover.

- Quality Design & Build: The PUL might feel lightweight, but it’s sturdy. It holds up well to my rough and tumble lifestyle.
- Not Bulky for Use: I associate night time diapers with bulk, but this diaper isn’t bulky. It’s fluffy. However, I easily did up a diaper shirt (onesie) without a problem. I slid her legging up and over with surprising finesse. I didn’t have to squeeze thighs and diapers into her fleece sleep either (a common complaint I have when I use some fitted diapers). On the toddler, the diaper fit the same as any other AIO cloth diaper I own (but with double the absorbency)
- I can’t do up her sleeper when I put her in a traditional fitted diaper for the night, but this I can. The GroVia ONE is much bulkier on A, IMO.

- I can’t do up her sleeper when I put her in a traditional fitted diaper for the night, but this I can. The GroVia ONE is much bulkier on A, IMO.
- Absorbency: I’m saving the best for last because if you haven’t wandered over and checked out the absorbency stats on this cloth diaper insert, you need to. I’ll do my unscientific kitchen testing, but if Mothereases stats are the same scale as mine: wow. I had both kids wear this diaper during the daytime while I was prepping and both times the diaper came back feeling dry as a bone, but yet heavier as if it had been peed in. Talk about amazing.
- This diaper does work for some people overnight, but for my super soakers, it wasn’t enough. I’m still very impressed with it.

Room for Improvement
No cloth diaper is perfect.
I wish there were three rise snaps. If you’re a long time reader of SimplyMomBailey you know, I don’t’ like unsightly diaper bulge and with only two snaps across for the rise snap, this problem quickly grew for Little Miss. This is mostly attributed to the fold over in the insert.
It took some finagling to get just the right fit with the Mother ease one size cover.

The diaper didn’t work for us overnight. We probably need 3-5 more ounces of absorbency. I had a touch of dampness on the back of the sleeper, but no leaks elsewhere. The shell was moderately wet. I consider Anna to be a bit of super soaker.
All in All
I am super impressed with my Mother ease one size adjustable Wizard Diaper cover. This system is amazing, and I continue to speak highly of it despite not working for night times for my baby. It is amazing for car rides, naps, and long periods out of the house for us. I absolutely love the full sized insert and the 6 snaps to keep it in place. To me, the Mother ease cover and insert system gives me everything I love about fitted diapers without everything I hate about them. For reference, I don’t like the nusisance of snapping on a fitted diaper and then a cover; my children do not stay still that long.
I can’t wait to try other inserts from Mother ease and part of me wodners if I did it over again if I would use Mother ease exclusively? The price point for a CANADIAN MANUFACTURED product is on par with my expectations for quality made diapers. You can pick up a one size a Wizard Duo adjustable cover for only $19.95. 3 covers per day, plus 7 diaper changes and 1 over night diaper = $200 for a day or about $500 for a complete stash of diapers. To me thats a steal of a deal for cloth diapers that will last from birth to potty training.

I finally got around to reading what you thought of it!
I have issues with the two rise snaps on diapers too. Not really on this one (I ordered the OS for Graham), but it’s rendered the Nuggles cover we have unusable. 🙁
Your graphics are awesome, BTW!!
Mother ease is one brand that I have yet to try. With four options of Wizard Duo Inserts available from Mother ease, every parent is sure to find something that works!
I to love Trade shows. I also love these diapers. Even more that it is a Canadian company!
To make it through the night, try to add the Wizard booster: it works perfectly for us here! We had the same issue: the night Time insert by itself was not quite enough!
