Earlier this week, Rachelle brought in the Eco Kids Finger Paint to Nest & Sprout Maternity… and naturally because I work there, I had to give it a go and check them out. It’s not often we get items that work for my big kids.

What is Eco Kids?
Eco Kids is a USA brand that looks to simplify children’s toys, remove gender/race bias from children’s products, and emphasizes the joy of discovery. They work to reduce unstainable ingredients, reduce packaging, and reduce plastic use.
The Eco Kids Finger Paint
This is a powder paint – which reduces the cost and emissions of shipping the item, and allows you to make just what you need. You can mix up what you need in a little bowl, mason jar, or however you want to pain.

The Eco Kids FingerPaint is a food safe paint, which means you can eat it – and your little artists. Which for many of us is awesome because our creative toddlers put everything in their mouth. My little one’s are past the age of putting their hands in their mouth, but they are still up for some finger painting experience.
Our Eco Kids Experience
Some of my first impressions include….
- It’s not a thick paint, it’s fairly soupy.
- It’s not a bright paint, it will gently fade
- It’s pretty fun to paint with your hands.
I let them dry out overnight and will probably use them as water colours with the kids. Looking at how little we used – about 1tbsp of paint, I think this will last us forever and ever! It’s an incredible deal. You’ll be painting for years.

I’d recommend it as a great alternative, and it’s really going to go far for any little painter. It’s not Crayola vibrant, but half the time painting is less about the post-paint art and more about the creative sensory experience of using our hands to do something, and getting messy. Would definitely recommend trying this in the bathtub! I might do that next is let anna colour the walls and then shower it all down.
PS. the red did stain Anna’s fingers, but it must have faded super quickly because I don’t remember it being an issue at bedtime.
