Review of the Nicki’s Knickers Wool Blend Fitted Diaper

Nicki shared her beautiful cloth diapering story earlier this year and in sharing about her new wool blend for diapering, I knew I had to have one. And, so I ordered a Nicki’s Knickers fitted diaper and e-flat to check out and share with you.  Today we are just going to look at her Fitted diaper. I’ll be back with the e-flat and a little history of the evolution of flat cloth diapers.

Now, for years we’ve thought about wool as a barrier used in cloth diaper covers to keep the wet in and off our clothes – but wool is so much more than just a water resistant exterior. Wool has the incredibly capability to be an absorber of all things awesome. It can be used alongside cottons, bamboo, and other fibers for stay-dry experience alogn with general absorption.

About Nicki’s Knickers

This homegrown brand has a beautiful story that you must listen to on the Cloth Diaper Podcast. Nicki was one of the first to level up the flat with the E-flat. This innovative design has changed the flat industry and pushed for creativity and innovation in new and amazing ways. I cannot wait to see what Nicki does with her life and the Nicki’s Knickers brand.

About Nicki’s Knickers Fitted Diaper

Available in nighttime and daytime, I have the daytime Nicki’s Knickers Fitted Diaper in a one-size. You can also pick up this fitted diaper in a toddler sizing. The Nicki’s Knickers Fitted Diaper is designed to tackle your pee problems, including focusing on absorption with quality materials and fit.

My take on Nickis Knickers Fitted Diaper

I’m going to start with… the wool blend is a little itchy for me. I don’t love how this diaper feels on my hands and someone with more sensory issues than I care to admit, I would likely not use this beautiful masterpiece. She told me it would be soft, and maybe it’s soft to someone else, but to me, it’s not the right soft. this is going to be a fantastic conversation on a show of the podcast later this summer where talk about this. I found the Lunapaca alpaca wool cover to be soft, I find this to be not the right sensory experience.

And for many of us cloth diapering is this beautiful sensory experience that fills us with so much goodness.

Senses aside, this is a beautiful diaper that fills me with joy. I can still remember unpacking it and crushing on the amazing pedal style inserts that all snap together. I’ve tossed this in the wash a few times and everything stays-snapped together. For me, that’s a huge win because I hated always looking for my matching inserts and pairing it all together.

I enjoyed shopping with Nicki’s Knickers for a fitted diaper because I didn’t have too many options. This is a frivolous point in this blog – but sometimes when I go to websites like Lilly & Frank and Twinkie Tush, I don’t know what I want or how to buy a fitted diaper. And I know that Heather and Gretchen would love to hold my hand and help me find the right product, but sometimes decision paralysis sits in and I don’t know what sizing, edging, or inners I needed.

Compared to other fitted Diapers – the Nicki’s Knickers is a rounder thicker fitted diaper. In a stack, I think that’s just the way the dice rolls. When we fold up diapers they don’t look like how they look in real life. I’ve compared it to a few fitted diapers I had laying around – the Lilly & Frank Fitted Diaper and the Baylri Fitted Diaper in the stack, and then laid flat with a cheap hemp fitted. You can see it has it’s own custom curves and is quite a speciality designed product that is adapted to really mold to the curves of the body.

  • Cheap hemp fitted
  • Lilly & Frank under

That said, there’s not much else for options – you’ve got day and night, one size and toddler. If you want different prints, you slowly wait for different tie dyes or go with classic white. If you don’t like serged legs, this isn’t the right product for you.

My recommendation for the Nicki’s Knickers Fitted Diaper

This is a beautiful product and all the kind words that people say about the Nicki’s Knickers brand and product are exactly that. Nicki is a wonderful human and the products she creates are done with such intention and beauty. These are products that are designed to fill your need and I can’t wait for you to try your own Nicki’s Knickers. Let me know how it works, and if you find it a touch on the itchy, or if it’s all in my head 🙂
