Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops {Review}

Disclaimer: This post may contain affiliate links. I purchased this product on my own, and letting you know my truthful, honest thoughts about it in order to better your opinion on the topic at hand.

To keep things bumping around these parts of the web, I’m going to introduce a new series of posts called “Things I Love.” And to start off my list of things I love, I’m gonna talk about my most recent purchase from Well.ca – Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops.

Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops {Review}

Thats my favourite part about mail day….

It dawned on me that my child enthusiastically squeezed his favourite squish pouches, but less then enthusiastically ate solid food. Squish pouches are expensive, and while I do enjoy their ease and conviencne, I knew there had to be a better way. I’ve cautiously avoided buying reusable squish pouches in fear of not being able to wash them properly (let me know if theres an easy to wash brand on the market, and I’ll give them a try – maybe. I’m still scared).

The better way is… smoothies. Smoothies are soft and drinkable and just perfect for a Little Man. However, smoothies were almost always a mess.

  • Face Mess – whenever he brings the cup to his mouth, smoothie would get everywhere on his face. Our big IKEA cups would lead there to be smoothie on his lips and eyebrows.
  • Clothing Mess – being a toddler, he almost always dribbled some down his shirt.
  • Floor Mess – again, toddlerhood meant that he constantly tripped with his smoothie cup in his hand and smoothie would end up all over the floor.
  • Everywhere Mess – need I explain more.

I gave him a straw and we solved the Face Mess; however, Little Man was still making lots of messes. So, I needed a solution. I thought about buying straw cups; but straw cups are a pain to clean, way too many pieces.

And then I remembered seeing the Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops and I thought why not.

Why I love my Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops

  • Less Stuff – but Bailey, you just bought stuff, that’s not less stuff. very true world, very true. These simple silicone lids make any cup a no spill cup. Seriously, I was skeptical they’d fit over my cheesy IKEA cups, but they did!  Now I don’t need to have straw cups, regular cups, no-spill cups. I just get to continue to use my regular-every day Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops and I’m good to go!
  • No Spill – well relatively no-spill. The Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops will leak out of the straw hole if there is no straw in the hole. But if there is a straw, we don’t get messes when Little Man trips over his feet and sends the cup flying across the living room.
    • I dont trust these enough to throw in my bag for an outing, but they are perfect for keeping around the house clean.
  • Easy to Put On – nothing more needs to be said.
  • Super Easy to Wash – dishwasher or by hand the Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops washes up like a breeze. I cannot say the same about the straw. My straw is all gunked up with smoothie juice and not coming clean… {{I’d love a recommendation for a great kid-friendly reusable straw}}
  • Fun Colours – my favourite part about making Little Man his fruit/veggie smoothie is creating fun colour combos with his ikea cups.

  • Affordable Price Point – For $12.99 you get 3 Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops and a straw. At just over $4CDN/each, its definitely cheaper than buying a set of straw cups.

Seriously, you need a Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops

Okay, you probably don’t need Silikids Siliskin Straw Tops… but your mom-life would be better off with them. These would make great stocking stuffers or Easter Basket gifts. They’d also make a great addition to your cart if you need to reach free shipping online… I can’t help but crush on them more, and definitely felt the need to tell the world about how awesome these are. #bestpurchase

Prince George, BC | My Rhododendron Died

I’m from BC’s southwest coast, rhododendrons grow everywhere. They are the hedge plant of everything, but in Prince George, BC you will be hard pressed to find a rhododendron because they are just not zone 3 plants.  When we purchased our current home we were surprised to discover a rhododendron – but there was much […]
