Sometimes Cloth Diapers are TOO BIG for your Preschooler – A Review of Snap-Ez Cloth Diapers

I did all the measurements but the thighs because I totally thought that was all I needed, but you really should do all the measurements because successful cloth diapering requires a good fitting product.

Snap-Ez Cloth Diapers for All Ages & Abilites - Extended Size Diapers for Kids and Adults

Stephanie from Snap-Ez Cloth Diapers joined me on the Cloth Diaper Podcast in October for Show 12 to talk about her business. She also sent me a cloth diaper to review and I’m so pleased to do this for her and talk about the options in big cloth diapers for big toddlers, preschoolers, small children, and even adults. Cloth Diapering can be an option for people of all ages and abilities who need to use diapers. The infant cloth diaper market is what primarily think of, but there are other needs out there.

Snap-EZ Youth Pocket Diaper

Stephanie sent me a Snap-EZ Youth Pocket Diaper after a few measurements in a youth small. this is one of their smallest sizes.

SnapEZ Pocket Cloth Diaper - Youth Small

It’s a basic pocket cloth diaper but bigger than a traditional pocket cloth diaper you might find for babies. It’s made out of an exterior layer of  PUL (waterproof laminated polyester fabric) with an inner layer of microfleece. It’s a simple pocket diaper with an opening in the back for stuffing, and elastics along the front, back and legs.

The diaper is sized meaning it doesn’t any rise snaps, and you buy it for the size you need using measurements you take. I highly recommend taking ALL MEASUREMENTS to get the size you need right. Nobody wants a gaping thigh leg or too big of a diaper. Measurements are accurate, and perhaps on the bigger side than I was expecting.

My Thoughts

I’m going to recommend Snap-EZ if you’re looking for bigger cloth diapers for kids, and adults, but I’m really going to emphasise taking the right measurements to get the right fit.

We are using this at night time along with a few other nighttime potty training pants.

My diaper fits my child, but I feel the legs are too big for him. He’s 40lbs and a size 4 T and was on the smaller side of the diapers range. It fits on the smallest waist setting, but after some movement, I find it gapes around the legs and I’m going to assume the diaper is too big. That’s a great thing if you’re looking for an extended size cloth diaper because that’s Snap-EZ speciality.

Even with the too big fit (in my opinion) we are still using this diaper overnight as my child is in between night time potty training. We haven’t had any leaks, and he can easily take it off in the morning to go to the bathroom. Truthfully, if he doesn’t jump around before bed it’s fine, but it moves around too much for a busy active kid and begins to sag because I find it’s a little big for that.

The Low Rise nature of the Snap-EZ Pocket cloth diaper is less than ideal for us. This mixed with a back pocket opening, it can be tough to ensure there is enough absorbency at the front of the diaper for a boy with a penis.  I find more and more he wets to the front at night time. I found this diaper sat too low in the front to give enough absorbency for a front pee. I believe this would not be a problem for a girl.

If you listen to the podcast, Stephanie does talk through the different types of styles of diapers available on her site and that some offer a higher rise. And highly encourage reaching out to the brand to ensure you get the right product for your needs.

Overall, it’s a good quality cloth diaper. These are made by dedicated seamstresses in Washington State. They aren’t machine perfect, and that’s okay. Snap-EZ cloth diapers still exhibit a high-quality standard of diapering, and the materials they use feel great.

We didn’t get any inserts with our cloth diaper because shipping inserts is a beast, and really, I have enough. I use a receiving blanket at night for my toddler and it did the job. Check out why receiving blankets are a cheap amazing insert for any cloth diapering needs.

My Recommendation?

I think Snap EZ Cloth Diapers is a great brand to connect with when you’re looking for cloth diapers that are bigger than baby cloth diapers.

If you need something to diaper a child, adult, or senior, connect with Stephanie to help you find the right products to meet your needs. Their products are reasonably priced for the time and materials that go into production.
