Back in the day, we just used flats and prefolds – but nowdays the work at home mom industry of the cloth diaper community has been busy creating a variety of different flat styles.
The Trademarked, and patent-pending, Fixed Flat from The Blythe Life is one of these incredible innovations of a mom looking to simplify the flat, but also make it beautiful and wonderful.

About The Blythe Life
The Blythe Life is both a diaper maker and a diaper retailer. Owned by cloth diaper mama, Blythe, The Blythe Life carries a wide selection of your favourite cloth diapering products and baby products.
The Blythe Life is also the home of the Fixed Flat. You can learn more about the Blythe Life story and how Blythe came to be the woman she is on the Cloth Diaper Podcast. It’s a phenomenal story.
What is a Fixed Flat?
“This Fixed Flat Diaper combines the best of a great stretchy flat and a pre-flat into one easy to use and wash diapering system! The two layers of stretchy fabric on the outer piece allows for a tight leg seal while still offering extra absorbency, and the attached insert can be customized to suite your baby’s personal absorption needs. “ – Direct from the Blythe Life

Some of the identifying features of The Fixed Flat include a contoured preflat attached another standard preflat. This contoured preflat has larger set of back wings, along with a front panel that reminds me of that triangle shape we try to get when we fold a flat diaper.
This is a patent-pending design.
About the Blythe Life Fixed Flats
The Fixed Flat is sold in five different sizes, and two different absorbency (heavy wetter and standard).
Fabric content may vary across different products, but it’s generally a bamboo cotton stretch with spandex. This gives it the stretch of a stretchy flat, and the absorbency of a well-sourced textile.

The diaper is just an absorbent core – so it’s’ a two part diapering system like any other flat cloth diaper or preflat. You will need a waterproof cover like the Bumby Abrazo Cover or your favourite PUL diaper cover.
This is a trim on the bum fit – trim on the bum meaning you don’t’ get a lot of fluff bum, but because its’’ folded on and around baby you get full coverage, and you may want to consider a more full-fit diaper cover (i.e. shapes like the Best Bottom or Buttons diaper cover may not be the best choice).
How to use the Blythe Life Fixed Flat
You’ll feel overwhelmed with fabric, but it’s pretty simple and watching the mama’s do it on Instagram, I think I could master it.
Generally, you’ll take the large rectangle and fold it into fourths and lay into the middle of the contoured preflat.
You then can take baby and place them on the wide back part, pull through the legs, wrap the wings around and fasten. You can use a Snappi with this, or you can quickly add a cover and let it stay in place.
Why you need The Fixed Flat
The Fixed Flat is a great choice if your looking for a custom-designed diaper that gives you an easy wash and dry experience, with a contoured fit. You can purchase it directly from The Blythe Life.
Parents love the Fixed Flat because of it’s absorbency, and that it can easily paired with more absorbency – add inserts to the middle, and then wrap on. It’s like a wrap on absorbent shell, or a wrap on fitted diaper.

The contoured shape provides for trim lines on the bum, and many families will do different rolls or folds to adjust for their baby.
You can now buy a contour fleece liners for easy poop clean up and stay-dry experience.
