I should write a little good bye to cloth diapering. It has been such a part of my life for the past 4 years and changed everything. Cloth diapering brought me some of the closest and best internet friends a girl could hope for and it taught me a lot about myself, my dreams for the world, and laundry.
Over the years, I learnt a lot from a great leader in my own cloth diaper space and have since parted from her wisdom as I work with parents via the Cloth Diaper Podcast, and begin to understand that there isn’t just one recommended way: there are many ways. And it is in this abundance of success stories from things that shouldn’t work, I’ve learned kindness and problem solving.
Cloth Diapering is a weird hobby. I opened this blog back when I was pregnant because I always blogged, and eventually, with a little guidance from Suzi from Cloth Diaper Addicts, started blogging more about cloth diapering. Today, it’s less about cloth diapering, and more about the things in my life I want to write down and share. I wish I had more time to write them down and share them.
There was a hot minute where I had dreams of making it big in blogging, but the cloth diaper niche, my general ‘regular northern mom’ look, doesn’t cut it in that space. I continue to run ads on this website because it helps pay for the cost of operating the website. I know it’s annoying but owning a website (or three) isn’t cheap.
And Now…
So, now I exclusively talk Cloth Diapers over at the Cloth Diaper Podcast where I have a somewhat occasional show dedicated to the conversations around cloth diapering. I started that project with the passion to learn the stories from the mouths of the brands and retailers. The cloth diaper community is really good at spreading rumours, misinformation and making assumptions from text posts. I wanted to find a way to create a more reliable sort of news channel with the cloth diaper community. Sometimes it’s hard to make time for it but I love. I love creating the youtube videos for my YouTube channel, the podcasts for my podcast, and engaging with all of you on Instagram with exclusively cloth diaper related content. I’ve had the chance to work with and connect with many brands as these channels grow and it fills my heart.
We aren’t cloth diapering on the daily anymore, but cloth diapering still consumes a lot of my day. And I’m okay with that.
I have a Bachelors in Environmental Studies with a focus in community development. Sure, I thought I’d be working for some big national cooperation or local grassroots building community in my community, but building community online is the 2019 way of living. I love working with Cherelle at Nuggles, and on my Podcast. These platforms keep me busy and engaged within the community.
I don’t plan on going anywhere soon.
I might not be cloth diapering little bums, but I can’t wait to continue to support hte cloth diaper community as we learn, grow and change with new information, and perspectives. This mama isn’t tied to any cloth diapering philosophy. Instead I believe in problem solving, intuition and the basics of laundry without all the science.
I guess it’s time to pack up my stash and move it into the new house in the coming weeks. I’ll set it up and keep filming videos and cloth diaper conversations because I believe we need to have continuation of thought leaders. I hope to work with more bloggers and creators and brands in the coming years to continue to build this community of information and resources. If you’re a cloth diaper blogger or writer or dreamer or video editor, let’s connect. Say hi. Maybe our paths will cross.

Hi Bailey,
I recently discovered your YouTube channel and podcast. I have a 4.5 year old who I tried and failed to cloth diaper, and I now have a 6 month old whom I’m just starting to cloth diaper. I’ve really enjoyed your shows and share your concern for ethically made products and enthusiasm for supporting small businesses. Unfortunately, I live in the United States, so I have a hard time procuring the diapers you race about! I have, however, added the happy anteater roll to my repertoire.
Bravo Bailey for all your hard work!
Sincerely,
Mali
Both you and Suzi were great resources while preparing to cloth diaper my now 4 month old. I attribute a lot of our success with it to you both of you sharing your stories and common sense approach to problem solving (as well as your contributions to the local cloth diaper swap as I’m in the north as well). Thank you so much for all your hard work on cloth diapering, I look forward to continuing following along with the podcast!
